B x N, C'MON!

Sooo...

There's this show on 8tv called 'Blogger Boy'.

Produced by the people behind the 'Gol and Gincu' TV series, the show's official website describes it as a 'dramedy' of the ongoing drama that afflicts the every(single)day life of the show's main character, Budi.

Though the first few episodes were somewhat slow (stay for Ms Woon), the pace soon picks up. Before long, you'll be cursing the cliff-hangers.

Coming out of a marathon Blogger Boy (ep 13 yo!) session, I must admit: I'm now a fan!

Great writing, interesting issues, and the fact that it revolves around a terminally single 'bestfriend' figure young twenty-something blogger makes it a good watch in my books.

Particularly worth a mention are the episodes that revolved around a gay character's home troubles.

Being a show on Prima-time TV, naturally the content is never out-and-out controversial but the producers must be credited for having the guts to even approach such a taboo topic. And not resort to stereotypes. For the most part, at least.

Hopefully the producers will not shy away from other equally thorny issues in future episodes.

Just a suggestion. From the way Kid has been written so far; he is prime candidate for episodes confronting misogyny.

Oh and check out the decor at Budi's pad. For an only recently employed tution teacher, the man has taste!

footnote: I have not, for a very long time, felt as menyampahed to a fictional character as I was to Zehan, Budi's ex-girlfriend who left to marry a richer older man before returning to 'fill the void within her' whilst maintaining her marital status.

But just when you think that this makhluk had no redeeming factor, the opposite turns out to be true!

If that's not good writing, I don't know what is.
