The Future Malaysia

This was originally my comment as response to Dave's latest post. Terpanjanglah pulak.

I can only hope that these current tensions exist because change is brewing.

Change however is both exciting and terrifying.

Some may feel that any further disruptions to the status quo will only be a step back for them.

One only needs to take a glance at the numerous incendiary articles and blogs that litter the political landscape to realise this.

This is not a piece of apologia.

Sincere Malaysians and agents of civil society must recognise this.
Engagement with with all stratas of society and listening to their fears and misgivings has never been more vital, if the aim is truly to create a just society.

After all, our image of the ideal Malaysia should not only be the Malaysia in the minds of the urban elites.

That image should also be equally acceptable for the Malaysians of Kuala Kedah, Belaga, and Jeli.
